One Community is now seeking two additional structural engineers to join either our Core Team or our Volunteers and Consultants team.

Below are all the areas we’re seeking help from a structural engineer. For a detailed list of every One Community action item related to these areas and all other One Community areas, visit our Work Breakdown Structure spreadsheet.
We are looking for someone with experience and access to RISA 3D to help designing/analyzing wood and steel structural systems for this structure:
You should have experience with wind loading analysis on low-rise residential/commercial buildings and designing the corresponding steel lateral force resistance system (LFRS). Your task with us will involve making assumptions in the analysis of the wind loading based on ASCE 7-10 and choosing a LFRS type that is both robust and economical for our structure.
* Experience with wood products (TJI, Glulam Beams) and AISC steel shape is helpful but not required
* Access to or acknowledge of ASCE 7-10 minimum design loads for buildings is also a plus
* Licensing in our state is not necessary, this is not for a final stamped review, that will come later and be done by someone else
We are looking for your help for 10+ hours a week to help finish the existing designs. Extensive work and calculations have already been done but final loading in RISA 3D needs to be completed for final beam and column selection. This link shares the specifics of what is done already and what remains to be completed: www.tinyurl.com/dcc-engineering Contact us if you wish to help finish all or part of what is shared there.
We are also seeking additional engineering help for these structures in the Earthbag Village:
