Why Open Source Sustainable Living Communities
One Community Weekly Progress Update #3

This last week’s team accomplishments were primarily in Sustainable Infrastructure, the Education for Life Program, and significant website infrastructure updates.

Sustainable Living Communities Open Source Food Production

Thanks to the consulting of Avery Ellis (Aquaponics Specialist and owner/operator of Integrated Aquaponics) and the amazing architecture skills of Douglas Simms Stenhouse (Architect and Water Color Artist), we’re happy to say that the commercial food production aquapini layout and general structure designs are done! This piece of our open source project-launch blueprinting of sustainable living communities is an aquapini purposed for maximum food volume production. In support of our open source goals, this aquapini will demonstrate and share a model of affordable large-scale quality food production utilizing very little water and with built in temperature control for more extreme climates.

Sustainable Living Communities Open Source SEGO Center City Hub

The One Community SEGO Center City Hub is a foundational component of the One Community duplicable teacher/demonstration community, village, and city model purposed to provide open source project-launch blueprinting necessary for a duplicable city center that will:

  • ADA Compliant
  • Designed to California code for maximum duplicability
  • Be LEED Platinum certified and demonstrate cutting-edge sustainability, be
  • Save resources by functioning as a community, village, or city recreation center
  • Save resources by functioning as a community, village, or city recreation center dining hall
  • Save resources by functioning as a community, village, or city laundry facility
  • Offer a green-luxury option to donors, major eco-investors, VIPs, or anyone else that might not feel like they are initially ready to stay in one of our earthbag or straw bale hand-constructed homes.

Thanks to the hard work of Karl Harris (Architect Drafter, Designer, and founder of Harris Design & Technology Services), we’ve got this updated CAD export showing the new library and Conference Dome bathroom location, moving the bathrooms of the Living Dome to a central location for increased resource efficiency and demonstration of collaborative living, a new 3rd floor sunrise patio space for congregating, and an open floor plan for the 4th floor.
